Woodbury Select Board Renews Fire Contract, Revises Personnel Policy Before July 1 Deadline

Other Committee · Meeting of June 22, 2026

HARDWICK — Woodbury Select Board renews fire contract, redirects sand procurement to three-year deal, and advances personnel policy overhaul at June 22 meeting. The two-member board unanimously approved the annual fire and emergency medical services protection contract with the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department for fiscal year 2026-27 and directed Town Clerk Graham to revise the fiscal year 2027 sand contract from a one-year to a three-year term before advertising it in the Times Argus, the Hardwick Gazette, and the News and Citizen. Road Commissioner Peter reported that Lamoille Valley Ford quoted a new F-350 pickup with plow at $64,595, a figure the board noted favorably against a prior F-550 quote of approximately $130,000, with a trade-in assessment expected Tuesday.

The board also reviewed four substantive changes to the town personnel policy — including a ban on holiday-and-overtime premium stacking and a new prorated vacation accrual system beginning after the six-month probation period — and directed that the revised policy be placed on the next meeting's agenda for formal adoption. Vermont Municipal Employees' Retirement System contribution rates for both employees and the town rise by 0.25 percent on July 1, bringing the employer rate to 7.5 percent.
