Select Board · Meeting of April 27, 2026

Hardwick Select Board set its annual town meeting for June 6 and opened a 22-article warrant, including a new 6 percent short-term rental tax and a school roof feasibility study. Clerk Zachary Spencer told the board a new fire engine carries a 15-year loan with $355,278 in total interest, prompting a resident, identified as Ms. Seyer, to say "none of these things were told to the voters" when the purchase was approved.

Vice Chair William Tinker and Planning Board Chair Bill Cole defended the financing as standard practice. The board tabled a draft RFP to sell or lease the former schoolhouse at 179 Main Street in Gilbertville pending revisions, approved a $956,918.78 sewer department budget, and watched state Senator Peter Durant present a Senate citation to retiring town official Eric Volheim for more than 30 years of service.
