Select Board · Meeting of July 13, 2026
Hardwick Select Board sets an Aug. 12 special town meeting and fines a subdivision $5,000 over sewer violations. Clerk Zachary Spencer told the board an Open Meeting Law determination found the Planning Board violated the law at a June 2025 meeting, and pressed Town Administrator Justine over a stalled records request tied to a federal audit questioning $682,160 in costs on a 2019 engineering contract. "The town can't have it both ways in different official statements," Spencer said.
The board also heard a Gilbertville resident's complaint about chronic illegal parking on Route 32, authorized up to four hours of town counsel review of landfill liability at the closed Patrick Hollow Road site, and approved an information-technology contract and a new warrant-oversight policy. A heated public exchange over complaints against the town administrator prompted a brief recess.
